Modernt Åldrande needs a feature illustration

Modernt Åldrande is an educational program (run by a not-for-profit) for young entrepreneurs interested in innovations that increase the quality of life for the elderly. We want to attract young entrepreneurs (aged 18-30) with ideas that have the potential to increase life quality for elderly. 20 selected entrepreneurs will get the opportunity to participate in a sponsored educational program where they get to take their idea from vision to reality (including building prototypes and doing pilots). The entrepreneurs’ ideas can be in social innovation as well as more medical or technical innovation. They can address any issues of being elderly such as immobility, social isolation, loneliness, medication adherence, independence in the home or access to health information. The program will run in Sweden, therefore the illustration must be done in both an English and a Swedish version. Modernt Åldrande means Modern Aging. We are happy to help with the translation for the illustrations that we are interested in and can communicate this via the individual feedback forum.

We want an illustration that sums up the program, so that people can get an immediate and visual idea of what we’re doing. The illustration will feature front-and-centre on the homepage of the event website, below a short description of the program. Concepts we want communicated: -That Modernt Aldrande is a program for entrepreneurs to solve problems that are affecting old people. -That there is a need for innovation in elderly care . The elderly are becoming more and more numerous (increased "older person/working force person"- ratio) and the elderly care system being unfashionable and in need for an energy injection. the energy injection should be the young entrepreneurs with all their ideas. -That the program has three stages: 1. Learning and idea generation 2. Idea development 3. Execution -That there is a prize for the winning concept The design itself: We want the design to feature people. They can be drawn, stylized, or cartoonish, but people should be an element of the design. Preferably both the group of young entrepreneurs and the elderly should be featured to communicate the intergenerational meetings the program is creating as well as the concept of “young people helping the elderly through innovation” Illustration style is up to the designer, though it should feel ‘young’ rather than corporate. We are trying to attract a young, energetic, entrepreneurial crowd, so anything too slick is going to give the wrong impression. A little bit of grunge or some unkempt lines might help, or a messy/hand-drawn style, but that is not prescriptive – do what you feel to be best. The design should have a clear flow from one stage to the next, with the overarching theme of the program communicated creatively elsewhere. You can use words in the design as much or as little as you like. If you feel you can communicate all the concepts with minimal text (perhaps just the three stages), then that would be perfect. However using words to illustrate key points is entirely allowed. Note that the design will need to be done in both Swedish and English (translations will be provided). Colour scheme: The website and logo are themed around orange and green, so make sure the design will work in a website comprised mainly of those colours. That is not to say you should restrict your palette to orange and green (and in fact additional colour would be appreciated), but make sure your design will not visually clash. Format: Width is limited to 960px, height is up to you. Postcard aspect ratio works.

We will provide constant feedback, so feel free to submit draft or sketch versions of the illustration first to refine the concept before you commit to fully working out an illustration. Even words is fine!
