In terms of style, we want to stick to the colors in the logo (file attached); basically pink (see logo) and grey. We will have black and white (or grey and white) photos with pink/red highlights similar to the eiffel tower on the blog page.
In general we want a subtle emphasis of brand colors (grey and pinkish red of logo) similar to when people think of Cartier they think red, and Tiffany they think teal (which is why we have the Eifflel tower in pink with grey background).
While this is a design-only contest (and not code contest) we don't want design choices that will inhibit cross-browser compatibility. For example, no flash, fonts must be cross-platform, pages should have most important content above the fold on reasonable sized screens, etc.
(1) Home page. Should give a teaser for the Perle Captive collection (which is 1 ring plus 1 pair of earrings) and the goal is to get them to click on a piece of jewelry to find out more.
(2) Collections page. Showcases 2 pieces of jewelry (one ring and one pair of earrings). A description of each piece, and a link to buy. Each image should have "click to enlarge" or "zoom" functionality so users can get different views of the same piece, as well as a zoomed in view (we will have multiple photos of each piece). We don't have final photos yet. The photos on the site today are placeholders. The final photos will not be on human models; they will be just the product on a white background, professionally shot.
We would like to mention our relationship with well known New York jewelry designer Geoffrey Good (http://www.geoffreygood.com) who has worked for Cartier, etc, in the past.
In general, we like the logo in the top left and a navBar across the top. We like the dark grey background. We like body text font (Trebuchet) and the headline font (Times New Roman). We're not sure about size or color fonts, although we like the grey (not black) text for body text. We also want a white background for places where there is a lot of text (we don't want white text on black for body text). We're not sure about the logo size or navbar size. The draft site is where we were working on the content, not the design. The logo need not be in square box and the navBar need not be grey.
The brand is mid-range luxury jewelry. Global demographics (initial focus US, France, China), women in their 40s or older.
