LG Inform Plus is a subscription service offered to both public and private sector organisations in the UK. These new sales pages are aimed at decision-makers and potential users from the public and private sector but not individuals or existing users. The service helps to: - improve efficiency of organisations, especially in local government - encourage use of standards and open data - provide geospatial data and facts about areas
We have created wireframes for the page at: http://beta.marketing.esd.org.uk/overview.html We are looking for a designer to work with to take these wireframes and turn them into attractively designed pages for the web. The exact wording of the page may change between now and design completion, but not significantly. You can assume that this is the final language and base your designs on this quantity of text. If, based on your experience as a UX designer, you have specific suggestions on layout, navigation or usability of the pages please do feed them back to us. Once the front page is designed, we would like to work with you to create a second page based on the design, but for now just concentrate on the "overview" page linked to. LG Inform Plus is managed by the Local Government Association (LGA) in England and Wales. You can see the LGA website at https://local.gov.uk We do not want the wireframes to be styled to look like part of the LGA or LG Inform Plus website as this is a stand-alone website, however use of their colour scheme is required. We have provided their colour pallet further down the page. You do not need to be restricted by any existing designs except the wireframes, we are looking for a creative mind to take our wireframes and build an interface that is practical, easy to use and attractive.
What to avoid
Logo: LG Inform Plus does not have its own logo, you should just use the name LG Inform Plus (with that capitalisation) and give it basic styling to fit in with the page. You should place the Local Government Association (LGA) logo within the footer, we have attached a copy of it. You can not change the colours of or otherwise edit the LGA logo. Default font: Arial, size 14, weight 400. You can use various versions of Arial (bold, thin etc) as necessary, but try to stick to Arial for most of the site. If you need occasional contrasting fonts, you can propose one. It must be a font installed by default or available (legally) for us to use for free. Google web fonts work well. Body text should be rendered as standard text rather than images so that it can be easily read by screen readers. Links: Buttons can be images if necessary. Text links must be in the colour defined in the colour palette but should not be underlined. Usability/Accessibility: Please consider the following points: ● Fonts should not be so thin that they are hard to read for visitors with poor eyesight ● Many users will be on older computers with lower resolution screens, so do not use fonts that require high pixel density screens to be readable ● Maintain high contrast between design elements. ● We must abide with WCAG 2.0 level AA accessibility guidelines You can check this with https://webaim.org/resources/contrastchecker/, noting that WCAG 2.0 level AA requires a contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text (14 point and bold or larger, or 18 point or larger). For your proposed design you should specify the fonts, sizes and colours used. Colours: The main body section should consist of a light background and dark text. It’s OK to use light fonts on dark backgrounds in some places as needed. Contrast must be maintained, so light fonts on light backgrounds or dark fonts on dark backgrounds must be avoided. You can add other colours to this list if needed, but these are our defaults: Body text #464b51 Background #ffffff Purple blocks #87338b Purple text #92278f Grey 1 #5d5d5d Grey 2 #e2e3e7 Blue links #00334d
