hendren.alex got their new web page design by running a design contest:
Animal Hospital needs website design for pet lovers!
Check out hendren.alex's Web page design contest…
Animal & Pet
Animal care clinic specializing in small animal services. The clinic's patients are animals but the clients are pet owners, looking to design a website that will be very attractive and relate to pet owners and animal lovers.
The work is being done for an animal hospital (Veterinary Clinic), the client outlined three primary goals for the site (quoted below): "#1 It has to be BEAUTIFUL! You need to open the page and the first thought should be Ahhh!!! We need to look from a pet owners’ perspective, we need pictures of people and animals on the front page without a picture of the building anywhere in site! I assume there are places we can get canned photos to use for this. Think like a scrapbook with rich textures and no hard edges. #2 It should be simple, easy to navigate. #3 It should be effective – our phone number needs to be large and near the top of the page with the words “Call us today” under it. A place for new clients to fill our their info that automatically emails us so we can call and follow up is also a must." This is a site redesign of www.animalhospitalnicholasville.com/live, I am not a graphic artist by any stretch of the imagination. Prior to the redesign the client did not specify any requirements other than to keep their color scheme (Tan and Hunter Green). Now the hospital has asked for a much more artistic and graphically pleasing website, thus I must contract out this portion of the job. + Navigation Bar should be moved from the side of the page to the top of the page in a horizontal format.
Header + Horizontal Navigation Bar + Logo built into the header of the site + Link to site for online pharmacy and site for pet profile (on current site) + Facebook/Contact Links in the header + Phone Number with Call us Today Home Page + Large area for banner/slider containing pictures of animals and monthly specials with caption/site info to the side of the banner/slider + Brief welcome message/About Us section + Area to request initial appointment (popular on sample sites) + Gallery Preview (Potentially) Sub Page + 2 Column Format - 70% of the page for site content, think of this as the single page in a wordpress theme. 30% of the page for the second column. Footer + Wrap the site up cleanly but provide room for directions map, social media links, and clinic hours. + Include frame to the side for pet photos (if space available)
What to avoid
The client has asked for "hard corners" to be minimized. Avoid being ultra professional and think more playful and pet friendly, the site should feel very welcoming to pet lovers.
Late note to include from the client: We are envisioning the website front page to be simple and uncluttered. We want a toolbar across the top of the page (horizontally) for navigation, with our phone number above the navigation bar with the words "Call Us Today". We would like a big picture (slider/banner) with a caption beside it that covers most of the primary viewing area. We are thinking that would be a good place to put our monthly special and have it scroll across to an announcement about boarding or new products, etc.
