The CVT will be a continuous 100 kilometre multi-use trail through the Credit River Valley in southern Ontario, Canada – from the Hills of the Headwaters in Orangeville to Lake Ontario in Port Credit . The CVT will connect trail users to the beauty of nature, rich cultural experiences, Indigenous heritage and values, and to the sacred, sustaining waters of the Credit River. The CVT project is led by Credit Valley Conservation, an environmental non-profit, and supported by more than 50 agencies. Critical partners include 5 Municipalities (government), Community organizations and Indigenous partners (Missisaguas of the Credit First Nation, the Six Nations of the Grand River, the Huron-Wendat First Nation and the Credit River Metis Council).
The logo design for the Credit Valley Trail (CVT) needs to illustrate the trail’s vision, collaborative spirit and experiential components – including the desire to showcase the rich cultural, natural and Indigenous heritage found along the CVT route. The design must demonstrate the contribution of CVT’s Indigenous partners as leaders in creating an Indigenous Experiential Plan for the CVT. The Indigenous Experience Plan will share the cultures and traditions and promote awareness of Indigenous communities’ ancestral presence and connection to the land. The logo must also capture the vision for the CVT to empower communities, nurturing environmental champions to protect and sustain the trail and the Credit River Watershed for years to come. Along with being a promotional marketing tool for the trail, the logo must also be highly visible and easily identifiable for use on trailhead and wayfinding signage. Lastly, the CVT logo should be legible on various scales. Preference is for a round or square logo that can fit on a 5”x 5” trail marker, although additional configurations may be welcomed.
