Dot and Jack
Baby/child's play mat
Description of the product
We're making baby play mats. These mats are made up of foam tiles that are 60cm x 60cm each and 1.2cm thick and there is 6 of these tiles. Our product is for children but it's designed to appeal to mother's in that it is designed to fit in with the family's home decor and features prints that you would regularly see on a living room or bedroom rug in an American home.
Description of the product target audience
Our product will only be sold in the US for the time being so our target market is mostly made up of American mothers or perhaps other family members and friends who make the purchase for someone else.
We would like to get design ideas for a bag in which the mat can be packaged. This bag is preferably made of some kind of fabric or a really good quality thick plastic and should include a zip and two handles to make it easy to store and carry (it is very important that the bag closes with a zip or some other kind of fastening as this product is for an online store and will therefore be shipped so everything needs to be very secure so none of the pieces of the mat fall out). We would then like to print our logo onto that bag. The idea is that the packaging doubles as a storage solution for the mat and as such is beautiful and practical at the same time. I have attached a few images to demonstrate the kind of bags we like to help direct your thinking. Please note, this is NOT a competition to design the logo or the print on the front of the bag, but rather the actual bag itself.
What to avoid
Using cheap looking fabric ideas in the design. Nothing too cutesy - simple and boutique-y is best for us. Plain colours or not too many colours tend to be our preference but we're open to your ideas. We've noticed we tend to gravitate towards plain designs so images and graphics haven't worked to well for us so far. Finally, no open bags - the bag must fully close with a zip or some other fastening to ensure that the pieces of the mat don't fall out.
