Dr. Brian J. Dixon
I am a writer and speaker on Education Topics. I consult with high school principals to help them use the Internet to communicate events at their schools to parents and the community.
Book cover for self-published book. Title: Social Media for School Leaders: A Comprehensive Guide to Getting the Most Out of Facebook, Twitter, and Other Essential Web Tools"
by Dr. Brian J. Dixon
optional: Executive Director of the Mentorship Academy
I would like the book to appeal to high school principals.
It would be nice to include social media elements (without violating copyright). No official logos (Facebook, Twitter, etc. allowed).
I've attached a few covers that I like. Feel free to use stock images from iStock or other places. I am looking for original work, but am willing to buy the stock photo for the final version. (It's ok to use a watermarked mock-up at this stage.)
The book will likely be 6 x 9 (template attached).
Right now, I am open to covers with pictures of students as well as plan covers with the DOSEM concept (file attached). I also like the colors from the DOSEM file.
I prefer Helvetica font, but am open to others.
I've also attached other book covers that I like.
Here is the table of contents:
1. Introduction
2. eNewsletters
3. Facebook
4. Twitter
5. School Website
6. Ning
7. YouTube
8. Online Surveys
9. E-mail
10. Classroom Portals
11. Student Portfolios
12. School Leader’s Blog
13. Mobile Devices
14. LinkedIn
15. Google Plus
16. Your Online Presence
17. Social Media in Practice
18. Internet Safety
You could also put in a quote/ endorsement from another author - just use a made up one for now. We can get one to fit the space later.
I've also attached my version of the book cover. I like the title treatment, but I'd like to move away from the rest of the design.
The audience is very basic- new to social media, and very academic- so finding a way to make it seem a bit more serious and helpful is probably the way to go.
UPDATE:
After looking through the great designs, I think it would be a good idea to include our school building in the cover design. I've attached several pictures of the school and one of me with an iPad standing in front of the school. I've also included some author pictures for the cover or back. Thank you again for all of your work. Looking forward to seeing your great ideas. You inspire me!
