I'm running for political office in DuPont WA.
What's your vision?
I'm running for city council (seat 1) in DuPont WA and need a design that can be used on an 18"x24" yard sign and a postcard. I want voters to elect/vote for John Hall. The most important thing is for a simple message, primarily my last name, to be readable on a sign that is memorable at a speed of 30mph. At the same time, I would like the sign to be interesting to pedestrians, with more interesting elements visible from a closer distance. Ideally, the sign would be printed in 2 or 3 colors. These signs have different uses. People will be driving by seeing things quickly from a distance, perhaps at night. I'd like to make sure that the "Vote HALL" message sticks with them. If they give the sign a closer look, they should probably get the "City Council" message. People will also be walking by these signs. I'd like them to easily see some additional features, such as my priorities. I'd also like them to notice additional images "hidden" on the sign. For example, with a light gray color, white dots on a solid background, or other approach that was not distracting from a distance. Ideally, this would be something like a game of "Where's Waldo".
The political issues that are most important to me: 1. Public Safety - We need to preserve and enhance our police, fire fighters, and emergency medical services which have been cut to minimal levels. 2. Vibrant Community - DuPont is a planned community that has many parks and trails through beautiful wilderness areas, many with views of Puget Sound. The parks are family friendly and are areas to congregate and meet your neighbors. The parks are central to many community events and activities. The walking paths created a connected community, allowing people to get anywhere in the city and have helped make DuPont the home of a national running organization. The city is also about 1/2 current or retired military and we are neighbors of Joint Base Lewis-McChord. (When the artillery trains, our windows rattle!) 3. Future - DuPont has a significant history of business dating back to the fort Hudson fur trading company. Lately, DuPont has been having revenue difficulties. We need to find ways to maximize the efficiency of our spending while investing in future economic growth and development. We need to grow revenue and attract new/additional businesses to the area--we finally have a grocery store opening soon. At the same time, we must avoid the problems inherent with growth, such as traffic. For additional images that would be good (in no particular order) A Bicycle or bicyclist., A runner (Check out the "Wear blue, run to remember." group), Flag, Stars, Fireworks, Pie, Soldiers, Fire truck, Police car, Airplanes or Helicopters, Deer, Children or Families, Golf, Trees, River, Trails, Parks, The DuPont clock tower, Mount , Rainier, Olympic mountains, Washington, Puget sound, Fish, A pioneer fort, Easter eggs, DuPont City Hall, Train, Slides, Swings, Books, Ice cream, Park bench, Trees, Cars, Fire Truck, Books, a Gavel, Houses, etc.
