"Swim Records" iPhone App Splash Screen and App Icon

This is our first project with 99designs.com and we are excited about exploring different design possibilities. One of the most exciting things about this project is that we will give credit to the winning designer inside of the app (if the designer so desires) by adding their name to an appropriate screen.

Swim Records is a productivity application that stores swimming times, and dates for a variety of races … for people that own an iPhone and want to track the progress of a swimmer or a group of swimmers.
The target users are swimmers, parents of swimmers and anyone who wants to keep track of the progress across a range of strokes and distances.

For this project we require an App Startup Splash Screen and an App icon for an App that records swim times of swimmers in different strokes and distances. Obviously, the splash screen and the icon need to be closely related. We are open to cartoon-like-characters or not. We will leave the creative designers come up with their own ideas.

The deliverables need to be:
* App Icon - square, designed to accommodate Apple's round corners. Delivered as 600x600px, PhotoShop file with layers.
* App startup splash screen - design that will work for iPhone and iPad screen dimensions. iPhone: 3x2 aspect ratio (480x320px). iPad: 4x3 aspect ratio (1024x768px). Delivered as PhotoShop file with layers at iPad screen resolution (1024x768px file).
* It is imperative that the splash screen and icon have the name of the app across it: Swim Records. The name on both the icon and splash screen must be in a font that is easy to ready.
* We like an Apple-like clean design and thus, prefer the usage of primary colors but will accept others if they look great.

To get an idea of the functionality of the app, conduct a search on the iTunes store of the words "swim log." There will be a few apps with similar functionality but the one with your contributions will be best!
