M. Tony and I created a book cover through a one-to-one contract. I selected him based on the good work he had done winning a book cover contest for another book in the same series. I wanted to develop a consistent style across the books, and he delivered. He worked very quickly and gave me a finished product in a matter of just a couple of days. He was responsive and we were able to have good dialog about the elements in the design.
Thank you Zsolt for doing such an outstanding job of this!

How ELK GmbH started their app design journey
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
This App runs on an industrial control unit for ovens in bakeries. With this APP the oven will be operated. We need a re-design for an existing ui-theme and icons for one of our customers. We do not like to change the complete screenflow at this time, although small changes of the screens are possible.
What do you have in mind for the style and theme of the app?
We are talking about an industrial control unit, i. e. functionality, easy identification of information and process flows are important. The design should be simple and straight.
However we like to have more dynamic content/icons. Currently we are using only static icons. But in some cases for example a temperature icon that shows “heating is on” or an icon that shows the remaining time or other processes etc. could be animated too.
Winning designer will get to work 1-on-1 on the remaining app design.
This means we work together up to the final implementation in our control unit. Therefore we need your original as jpg, pdf etc. in the resolution 480x800 to change over in our UI. But all icons we need finally as svg. graphics or if there are any animated parts we need a animated gif. or the frames.
There are about ten screens and about 120-150 icons (this includes already some icons that are symbolise a different status – nearly like a animation – so there are for example ten frames necessary) witch have to be re-designd.
We've got a budget of 5000€ (currently about 5700$) for the hole re-design in a 1-on-1 work.
First the user chooses a baking programme in the programme administration. Afterwards the oven heats until the temperature of the chosen programme is reached. Then the bakery products will be put into the oven and the user starts the baking programme. The control unit shows the remaining time, finished time, temperature, if the heating is on or not, images of the bakery product etc.. There are a number of different screens available by sliding left and right over the touch screen with more or less shown information. Sometimes a hand control is necessary, so therefore some functions of the baking programme provide the UI as a button bar witch can be configured by the user. When the programme is finished the control unit gives a signal and the user takes the bakery products off the oven.

What to avoid
Although svg vector graphics will be used in the app icons and layout must be distinguishable in this resolution of 480x800.
It would be helpful not to change the font: Myrriad pro
The button in the "function-bar" displayed bottom in the screens have a resolution of 65x65. This is important because we need the place to put 7 function-buttons per line in the bar. Please make here no changes in the possible quantity of displayed icons.
The status-bar in the top needs the place to display diverse information Buttons (error, update, usb-inside, external-communication, user-login etc.). We set the limit of at once displayed information icons of three.
