Lightside Collective's mission is to reawaken levity where it is lost. Our 1hr - 1day, interactive, out-of-your chairs workshops are inspired by improv comedy training exercises. We invite adults to access their inner playfulness, creativity, and self expression so they can envision a lighter way of being.
We share concepts like the benefits of working with what's in front of you instead of trying to control ideas and people to fit them into a plan you had. Also - the benefits of changing your perspective on failure - by celebrating and embracing it. As a result of these lessons, people leave our workshops aware that they can feel "lighter" or more lighthearted. People learn that this levity can be a tool to combat stress and overwhelm. The "lightside" refers to a new outlook / feeling of being lighter vs. heavier.
The target audience for our services are adults who feel burdened by overwhelm and stress and who have some awareness that they have lost the levity or lightheartedness they once had as a child.
"Collective" is in the name both because I hope to serve as a sort of clearinghouse/booking agent for freelance performers/actors who could help facilitate workshops or other services that deliver levity - but also because I would like people to feel that by participating in our services, they are joining a community of people who appreciate that play can be a powerful tool to deal with the difficulties of adult life.
