Mexico Magico got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Rachel Horn Interiors needs a new pictorial + word mark
Check out Mexico Magico's Logo design contest…
Rachel Horn is a well-established Interior Designer with a growing product & retail business. Most of our interior design clients are wealthy, in the 40-70 year old demographic. Rachel designs most of our products, which are hand made by craftsmen in Mexico. We have a forthcoming online store that will sell all of our products online. You can view our existing website at rachelhorn(dot)com.
Logo types to explore
SUMMARY We are looking for a modern and elegant logo to replace the existing, more traditional, logo treatment. The new logo will emphasize the name “Rachel Horn” with a simple set of intertwined spiral antelope horns. The majority of current clients are in a 60+ wealthy demographic, but we would like the new logo treatment to appeal to both our existing demographic as well as a younger, 30-60 year old group as well. Above all, the type and treatment should be timeless, elegant, simple and clean. PROBLEMS WITH EXISTING LOGO The existing crown logo might still be used in the future, but the new logo will become the primary logo for the brand. Problems with our current logo include that a) it only works well center-justified, b) it is too ornate which suggests very traditional design, c) it puts too much emphasis on the crown, and not on the name. We want something iconic that makes people think “Rachel Horn”, hence the simple, intertwined horns. REQUIREMENTS The New Logo will be a combination of a pictorial “mark” and “type”, both of which can be used individually or together. *** The pictorial mark should be a cleaned up and symmetrical version of the intertwined spiral horns in the attached file (photo for inspiration only). Horns could be vertically or horizontally oriented. *** The type portion of the mark will be the name “Rachel Horn” only – font type should be an elegant and modern departure from the existing garamond font. Both the Mark (horns) & Type (Rachel Horn) shall be able to be used individually or together. The proposal should show both options (1. horns Mark only; 2. Mark + Type together.) Logo (mark + type) should be extremely flexible, allowing for both center & left/right justification. The mark should be symmetrical, allowing it to be flipped, reversed, etc. Regarding the treatment of the pictorial “mark” (the horns) we are open to two possible treatments: 1) just the horns on background (single color) or 2) the horns would sit inside some sort of a circle or box shape (ie; a two-color treatment). In the second scenario, this “horns in a circle” logo would also double as an icon to be used in web content, packaging, etc. Either way, we are open to have the Mark sit above/below/left/right of the Type when used in conjunction.
