Games & Recreational
3D Virtual Tabletop is the name of a mobile app used for playing pen and paper roleplaying games like Dungeons and Dragons. It simulates moving small figurines around on a map. It is not a game itself, but is used to help people play other games, using a mobile phone or tablet instead of a physical map and plastic or metal miniature figurines on a table. The target market is people who play tabletop roleplaying games. The app will be used mostly for games in the fantasy genre, but also for sci-fi, horror etc to a lesser extent.
Logo types to explore
The logo may also be used as an app icon, so an eye-catching representative portion of it should be displayable in a square. If possible, I would like to logo to convey "Exciting adventures happen here". The exciting things that happen are primarily combat, secondarily exploration. I've included some logo ideas that I tried out, none of which I'm completely happy with, some of them being awful, but they do give an indication of the elements I would like to see included. They are all wordmarks, but only because I couldn't think of a good abstract or pictorial mark, I'm happy for the final design to not be a wordmark. The first 25s of this video show what the app is all about: http://youtu.be/es1J5EZ2JyM The video shows 2.5D play pieces, but that is just because it is an early version, the eventual goal is for the app to display something more like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dungeons_%26_Dragons_Miniatures_Game#mediaviewer/File:Dungeons_%26_Dragons_Miniatures_2.jpg The maps that people use to play will have either square grids or hex grids. The words "Virtual" and "Tabletop" should be given similar, if not equal, weight.
