The project took longer than we had expected mainly due to the time that we took to go over revisions and submit our requests. Terry delivered them relatively fast and according to our revisions. We are very happy with the final project and look forward to working with Terry in future projects.

Who are you known as?
"Makaira" or "Makaira Oil & Gas"
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
We are an upstream oil and gas investment firm. The name of our company is Makaira Oil & Gas. Makaira is the latin word for Marlin. We are private equity backed investment company so the logo should reflect the seriousness of a publicly traded financial firm.
- The logo should incorporate a marlin (could be the entire fish, could be the bill nose, could be the head with bill nose, etc.
- The logo should incorporate an element of oil and gas (an oil derrick, pumpjack, oild drop, etc.)
- The symbol in the logo should be able to used independently of the full logo that would include the company name. (Icons, etc.)
- Colors are not important, but should be able to be flattened to black/white or grayscale easily.

At the end of the day, simplicity is key. We do not want to go through the process of heavy branding and then for our logo to lo look tired or have too much of a small company feel to it.
The goal is to merge the idea of oil and gas with the branding of the marlin. The basis of this concept is that people in oil and gas tend to have an interest in hunting, fishing and the love for the outdoors. So the idea is to provide comfort and familiarity through the baseline branding effort.
