How MakeSawdust started their logo design journey
Who are you known as?
What’s your company slogan?
A Members' Workshop
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
We are a woodworking shop (building with power tools, saws, hand tools, sanders, drills, etc.) that is open to the public to rent time on the equipment and work on their own projects (furniture, keepsakes, toys, tools, art) out of wood. We also offer educational classes/training on how to become better at woodworking as a hobby or profession. Our audience is split between older (55+ years old) people that have taken up woodworking as a hobby and younger (under 30 yrs old) people that are very artistic and would like to do something more "hands on" when much of their time during the day is spent looking at a computer or other electronic screen.
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
Games & Recreational
Logo types to explore
To give us an idea of the overall feeling of your brand, let us know which styles you lean towards
The logo should be versatile, so it is just as good with the slogan as without. Maybe parts of the logo can be used for a avatar. Can be small and still able to read it along with making it large for a store sign on a building. We can discuss these tradeoffs as the design develops. The slogan "A Members' Workshop" may also change to "A Members' Woodshop" in the future as an alternative slogan.
I like the idea of including dovetails in one of the letters to make it stand out like the Emerald Woodworks example (maybe in the D of SawDust). But a good design does not need to incorporate it and I don't want to bias too much in one direction.
