I don't want to be too restrictive here. The logo is to go on a website, primarily. It will also go with letterhead and other documents. The name "Golf Course Success" is a very obvious descriptor of what the business and my services are all about. The color choices should fall into the obvious of green for golf as well as money in terms of success, but it shouldn't be bright green or include any cheesy dollar symbols for S's, etc. Earthy tones, darker greens like a forest green, etc..
When you think golf, you definitely think slightly of snobbery, elite, country clubs, etc. so it should also be more formal and traditional. If you quickly google the major golf tournaments (The Masters, The US Open, The British Open and the PGA Championships) you will get lots of ideas. One thing you will see are many logos for events done in more of an emblem format. I don't really want that as I just don't think it translates well to a logo that is primarily for a website and letterhead where the primary purpose of the logo is to represent what the company is all about, which means the text for the name should be clearly identifiable. Still those tournament logos/emblems may provide some solid ideas for font selection or imagery (use of golf balls, clubs, a person swinging, etc.)
Any questions and I would be happy to answer them.
