Geo-environmental consulting, benefical use and sustainability. I hold a PHD and professional engineering license. "Fugacity" refers to the escaping tendency of a compound from one phase to another. It is a concept we use to evaluate how chemicals partition between soil, water, air, etc. It has the units of pressure and reflects the relative energy state of the contaminant in, and the affinity for each phase. For example, volatile organic compounds (gasoline) prefer being in the air, tars are solid like asphalt, and so on. We manipulate this tendency to achieve remediation of contaminated sites, but we also want to know where they go and where they accumulate. I also work with heavy metals, but their analysis framework is different, but it all comes back to energy states.
I am an engineer, pragmatist and not a tree hugger. Logo needs to be clean, innovative, and perhaps have a chemical/engineering slant. NOt dorky, but forward thinking. I work mostly domestically, but publish in the leading journals. I am known internationally as I used to be a prof. I consult for leading companies (e.g. dupont, dow) and feds (EPA, Army Corps, etc.) and those who need to safely recycle byproducts. I have done forensic and litigation work too.
