We want to develop a logo that focuses on our primary focus points of Cross, Worship, Word (Bible), Missions, and Giving (stewardship).
Our logo may include a cross that also intimates that we are located on the square in Orangeburg.
From our Pastor--Let's try to build off the "Church on the Square" it would fit nicely with the four points of the cross. Worship, Word, Mission and Giving We could put a point on each side of the square. I am thinking maybe an arial view of our downtown square which wouldn't be so much of a square but a four sided object. Maybe come up with a Symbol for Worship, Word, Mission and Giving so the logo could be the shape of Orangeburgs downtown square divided into four sections with the worship logo top left, Word logo top right, Mission logo bottom left and Giving logo bottom right. I have no idea what the points of the cross logos should be for each point of the cross but the divider between the four sections could make a cross. As always I would want simple logos easy to recreate in all forms digital, newsletter, letterhead, business cards, flyers, etc… Not to involved but easy to clearly see the message without the words.
The detailed logo could have "First Baptist Church" at the top and "On the Square in Orangeburg" at the bottom. We could also have the words Worship, Word, Mission and Giving under the logo on the detailed version. This would be used early on to help our church imprint on the logo and its meanings.
Long term goal would be to brand the logo so others recognize just the square image with the cross and 4 points of the cross logos and it would be identified as First Baptist Orangeburg. Sort of like the Nike swoosh or Apple apple.
