mikeM8 got their new logo design by running a design contest:
New Logo -reboot- for video production company.

We are a corporate video production company. Target audience is clients who need corporate video (marketing, safety, training, sales videos) or camera crews in/around Chicago. We chose "acclaim" because we crank out great quality work very fast. Hence use us, and you will get "acclaim" with your bosses. Clients love that we provide great quality work with little supervision. We've been producing video for 29 years, and have the quiet confidence to know we can handle any clients needs. Our current logo is 29 years old and has no visual linkage to video or video production. It's just a symbol that we need to redo. Our new website went up last week and this is the last element. www.acclaim-media.com for the new site and a feel of our visuals. Our old logo can be seen here: https://my.pcloud.com/publink/show?code=XZp9uT7ZCyQNwaMeOVYoMUszSWO4WpaVzH3k I could see exploring the "play" symbol or a monitor. But even then many companies use these symbols. We want to keep the logo CLIENT FACING- responding to their needs for video and triggering the visual for them. Im not sold on a lens, reels or a camera image only...as it seems that 95% of production companies do this. Lenses, cameras and reels, seems PRODUCTION FACING as its stuff we would use. We find, client doesn't care how we make a video, just how it looks on their social media or website..... If you have a super cool take on this (camera/lens/reel), Im open to looking....At the end of the day (unlike now) I'd like to give the viewer of the logo a clue of what we do without them asking. I'd prefer a logo and font of our name, open to font suggestions. However, in video sans serif fonts tend to work better.
Logo definately need a re-boot. I would prefer a HORIZONTAL logo over vertical, as this leaves us more room on screen for website, phone, etc. Finally, I love the colors black/red/white (grey too). However, this can pose a challenge for video as we use -black- for end of video clips. So for instance in our demo reel we might fade to black at the end of our clips, then bring the logo up. But if the logo is mostly black without an outline the black elements of the logo might "disappear". Same thing if we were to put the logo over a white background... I've attached a few images that would work. Imagius does use film, but I consider it novel as they worked it into the elephant. I like the way that RED BOSS lay's out horizontally.
