ONE GOD. ONE VISION. ONE MISSION. ONE PEOPLE.LIMITLESS REFLECTIONS OF LOVE
We are a group of 4 small churches in the Youngstown, OH (USA) metropolitan area. We are going through a merging process to become one people in multiple locations. We strive to pool time, talent & treasure to meet community needs where the churches currently reside as well as launch community- based social initiatives jointly in the city. We are emphasizing mission in a holistic metropolitan context, Urban & Suburban.
Logo types to explore
WHAT DO WE WANT OUR LOGO TO 'SAY'? We are a unified people that emphasize creating a better world together in our metropolitan contexts. 'Metropolitan' emphasizing urban, suburban, and x-urban life. We are unashamedly Christian, but choose to use our teachings as a motivation to create a better world for all rather than a divided one as religions often do. We are dedicated to issues of justice, mercy, reconciliation, rehabilitation, fellowship, and social service. We believe our actions to do our best to do our part to create a better world for all today is our act of worship as a people. We are unashamedly Seventh-day Adventist, but like the Christianity label, these are simply modems that offer values that drive us toward our mission. Our mission is NOT to make more Christians. It is NOT to make more Seventh-day Adventists. Our Mission is to create a better world through transformed people, families, communities, and beyond. We believe a lifestyle that creates transformation is healthy, positive, and attractive. We believe transformitive lifestyles reflect the love of God in and through us. We have no doubt our movement will continue to grow as we emphasize helping one another and others create a better world. Kinda lot to say in a logo, we understand if you can't get it all in! :-D To get to the next round, you have most likely submitted a logo that falls in one of the following categories. These categories are in our prioritized preference order (but they are ALL important!): ON POINT~ You have produced a logo that 'says' much of what is in our brief. It takes a special artist to accomplish this, and one we deeply desire to work with. It is highly advisable that you let us know in writing your thoughts behind your logo, so we can see it first through your eyes. MISSION INTENTIONAL~ Your logo emphasizes that we are a unified, inclusive people making a better world. Through reiteration and interpretation, you have shown we are Christian and Seventh-day Adventist, but what defines us is our work to transform self and community, not to simply propagate ideals, but to live them out. Incorporation of religious symbol is present, but not a focal point. LOGO REITERATION~ You are emphasizing a reinterpretation of our denominational logo GEOGRAPHICALLY INTENTIONAL~ You have emphasized our mission to a metropolitan context. There are aspects of purpose, but the focal point is our holistic (Urban, suburban, x-urban) emphasis on our largest metropolitan areas. PROFESSIONAL~ Your logo may not be ideal yet, but you are ideal to work with. You improve your logo and get closer to our ideal with each feedback. You are highly and purposefully communicative. We can see working with you on projects into the future. INSPIRATIONAL~ You have an extremely creative and original logo. We see potential in your gift to create something special. Your logo is uplifting to look at. When we see it, it just makes us feel good and motivated to do good. It is even possible that your logo may be off brief, but we just adore your work! THINGS TO CONSIDER: If you are going the geographical route, you must do your homework. We will not use a skyline from any city other than Youngstown. It would have to be an iteration of Youngstown or something abstract that can be used in multiple cities. DO NOT use just homes or just a skyline. The ideal logo with geographic emphasis with have aspects of urban, suburban, and ex-urban. Preferably aspects that are intertwined rather than any one geography emphasized or segregated. If using a reiteration of 'flames' from our denominational logo, it is very important (in most cases) that you use sets of three. If you are borrowing ideas from high rated logos, so be it. If you are using actual art from high rated logos, we will give priority to the originator. I get many questions about color. I don't know, every time I think I know, you guys show off something better. We want inspiring, but not circus. But we are also very drawn to professional styles/colors and single color shades in a submission. We have a ton of submissions of the hose in front, city in back theme. Unless you have a truly new iteration, I suggest you don't do that. We already have our favorites that have submitted that concept. See "Geographically Intentional" Our priority is for the logo to 'say' as much as possible, but we are drawn to simple logos. If you feel you are saying a lot with a little, I HIGHLY suggest you submit an explanation of your logo. It is ALWAYS a good idea to send an explanation with your logo regardless. DO NOT emphasize a worship service or church buldings. Both wonderful things, but they are instruments of our movement, not our mission. USE OF DENOMINATIONAL LOGO: You can find our denominational logo here: http://www.adventist.org/logokit/ The denominational logo DOES need to be incorporated, but it can be in an abstract way. You, as a contestant have permission to use our logo for the purposes of entering in this contest only. USE OF WINNING LOGO: We love the detail and design in many of the logos and tend to lean toward them, however, we will be using the logo for embroidery extensively. So, if your logo has a lot of shading or minute detail, we will ask if you have a solid color version that can be used as such. Please Note: If you are reiterating the 'flame' I highly suggest you use one or two sets of three lines. Emphasis on three, COPYRIGHT: We want to own and copyright the awarded logo. DO NOT 'borrow' other copyrighted material to use in your logo! If you are unsure, please don't use it!
