POLCO the political compass represent! a non-partisan gamified POLITICAL PARTICIPATION & education social networking PLATFORM. POLCO core features: 1) display the current bills, 2) provide an eballot for the user to vote, 3) organize user votes by their district, and 4) compare district tallies with their Rep’s vote in a simple results table. POLCO secondary features: 5) allow users to post comments on bills, 6) allow users to rate comments 7) let users associate into groups (use as an educational tool in poli sci classrooms, let users follow political positions of friends and family) 8) designed to scale to allow user participation with newly emerging state legislation data too logo theme emphasis: simple - politics (bills, legislators, amendments) can be complicated. we want to engage users to participate via a streamlined platform. professional - we are doing our initial rollout to university and high school classrooms so teachers can, in addition to emphasizing the importance of participating in the political process, present students a simple interactive fun educational participation platform. professors can generate student political participation by creating a custom classroom group that their students join and that delivers the professor a weekly report spreadsheet of the quantity of voting, comments, comment ratings, and quality of comments submitted by each student and gives each student a grade. to get professor buy in into the site we need the site to convey legitimacy, professionalism. technology, fresh - to really get the students and the younger less staunch demographic excited about the site and political participation we need the site to bring the new tech fresh digital feel/perspective to this ancient institution. this is something new and exciting, like many things of silicon valley, and will shake up and awaken politics to achieve progress today.
Logo types to explore
2 of the 3 founders including myself like the two sample logos I uploaded, and would probably like some cross of the two, for instance the last "O" in polco radiating with the web 2.0 interactive marks and the hand underneath. We really like a simple logo, and we recognize that have "POLCO", with a radiating "O", with a hand, that also says "represent!" could be cluttered, but could always use the different parts in different ways on the site. The other founder agrees with the principles of simple/clean, professional, fresh/tech, but is interested in a new spin. I am keeping an open mind too though and am certainly open to whole new ideas as well. Thanks for your understanding!
