Helping self-helpers produce legal forms that the courts accept and you understand.
Attorney & Law
We are partners in a project that allows low-income, low-literate, self represented litigants, who cannot get lawyers, to produce legal forms online for FREE. The final documents are legible, complete, accurate, and come with instructions about what to do next. Our aim is for people to understand how the justice system works, their rights and what they can expect. The steps to create the forms are full of explanation and we hope our users have a much better understanding of what they are doing, and what to expect from the courts by the time they have completed the forms.
Logo types to explore
We are a partnership - explained in Word doc - offering low income, low literate Massachusetts residents a way to create legal forms online that they can use in court. Our goal is to embed avatar guided interviews in a context of learning so people have a much better understanding of why and how the justice system operates and what to expect. The NY logo appeals because it can be broken down into a smaller logo they use in the bottom right corner of their interviews - see NY's Paternity Petition - https://lawhelpinteractive.org/login_form?template_id=template.2009-07-20.3777760883&set_language=en you have to click on Proceed and then agree to terms and Continue before you can actually see how the logo is used. Our users would be begin on MassLegalHelp.org and then from a page about Child support or something we would link to the technology you see the NY Courts using. We would love to have a design that evokes MassLegalHelp, the lady avatar in the interview, is simple enough that it could be broken down like NY's to appear in lower right corner of screen- would look equally good in b&w and we could even minimize to a v small mark at the bottom of court forms to indicate form was produced with our program. . The Word being completely and totally conceptual - please do not infer any visual suggestions here, we were just playing with concepts. Delighted to discuss with whoever is interested. Thanks!
