Be Happy. Be Hachi.
Animal & Pet
Hachiko is the famous, loyal Akita dog immortalized by a bronze statue in Tokyo. A film "Hachi: A Dog's Tale" with Richard Gere was based on his life. A Hachi website will go "live" soon, and we need a logo design that can be transferred to t-shirts, mugs, stationary items. Hachi is an Akita dog breed and the logo should have some resemblance to an Akita dog. The dog images (with the dog tag and red collar) show the required "signature" dog tag (Hachi wore in the film), and friendliness factor. The final images show cute (Hello Kitty) and the bottom images show expression. We like cute with hint of sweet or bit of mischievous is ok too. Personality! The first dog with the dog tag needs to smile! While we like this image, we are certainly open to a wide range of submissions. We understand cultural preferences, and our logo must have universal appeal. We're holding a contest, rather than go with one designer, because while we like contemporary, clean design- we believe in being open to your creative vision. We're not creatives, so we're relying on YOU to provide the modern image of the world's most beloved dog. You can find tons of Hachi references on the internet. Our upcoming website will be an inspirational resource for the community and inspire them to apply the Hachi themes in their daily lives. We will be a “Hachi: A Dog’s Tale” film resource, but the deeper purpose is increasing personal wellbeing through: "Be Hachi. Be Happy". Hachi is beloved, an icon even after 90 years. The original Hachiko of 1920’s Japan was so famous that upon his death, he was front page news, and thousands paid tribute at his statue. Hachi represents loyalty and pure virtues that we humans struggle to attain. What emotion should the brand be conveying? The feelings of mindfulness, compassion, inspiration, healing. Pure and simple JOY! Hachi fans are people that are deeply moved by this simple, true-life dog story. Our target audience love dogs, many have seen the film (it was shown in 70 countries), and embrace its themes of love, loyalty and friendship. Hachi’s simple yet powerful story resonates with children, families, men, women, adults, elderly- irrespective of race, sex, citizenship, age. The symbolism of Hachi unites people of all walks of life, as a global community. That's why we need a global face to "Hachi". Slogan is: Be Hachi. Be Happy. Ultimately, the winning design indeed "puts a smile on your face"!
Detailed instructions in attached PDF. (1) need the dog tag as shown in first image (2) full frontal face or body, not side view, of dog Need a full-body pose of Hachiko the Akita dog that’s easily transferable to tee-shirt, mug, etc. Can be "cute" or "contemporary, clean, sophisticated"! (1) For "Cute" look: Similar to Hello Kitty with a cute face. Left ear should be folded down like the statue. BIG glossy eyes. A cartoon rather than life-like. See the Japanese images for inspiration! Text on t-shirt: “ Be Hachi. Be Happy." (2) For "Sophisticated" look: Design for adult audience that appreciate clean, sophisticated, contemporary lines. NO STOCK images or illustrations can be used. This must be a unique drawing, absolutely no clip art. bisbidesign is incredible! They were able to take all the things I wanted and boil it down to an easily identifiable logo that exceeded my expectations. Even his first iteration really stood out compared to all the other entries. He was incredibly polite and quick to respond.
Highly recommend for anyone looking for a logo that sticks out!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
