The California Municipal Utilities Association represents the interests of a diverse coalition of more than 50 of California’s municipally owned utilities across the state. Our association engages in three main areas of activity: advocacy, networking and information.
What colors do you want to see in your design?
To give us an idea of the overall feeling of your brand, let us know which styles you lean towards
The California Municipal Utilities Association (CMUA) is redesigning its logo as part of a rebranding project. We would like an eye-appealing, professional-looking logo design that both reflects who our association's members are -- dozens of publicly owned utilities that provide water and/or electricity service to millions of residential and business customers statewide -- and the values and characteristics of the association and our members: California municipal utilities are reliable, innovative, community-focused, economical and green. Here's some basic guidance for our design: 1. We would like the logo to utilize the colors blue (representing water) and orange (representing electricity). If necessary, green is a preferred third color, because it positions us as environmentally focused. We are open to suggestions for color shades in this palette, as well as typography. The logo should be reproducible in both color and black and white (grayscale). 2. The logo should include three ingredients: Our acronym CMUA, California Municipal Utilities Association (spelled out) and a graphic element of some kind. 3. For the graphic element, we would like either: a.) A design that integrates or joins together imagery of water and power in equal measure (one example: a water droplet adjacent to or combined with a light bulb). Please avoid using a lightning bolt in the design. Or: b.) An abstract, original art design that emphasizes our association's togetherness and working together (such as the attached example from Kansas Municipal Utilities). Avoid “handshake” imagery, please. See the attached files examples of designs and sketches that could be a good fit for us. Some of these might be copyrighted, so please use them as general guidance or inspiration only.
