We are a relatively new church in NW Washington – a diverse, relatively young, upper middle class (not withstanding the homeless that intersperse on the city streets) part of the city. We desire to reach all DC residents, so that we are a diverse church made up of various ethnicities, generations, and socioeconomic levels. Why the Name Restoration? The name “Restoration" captures the full essence of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Salvation accomplished by the gospel is not merely a personal escape from the world’s brokenness. Rather, biblical salvation is restoration to wholeness of life in this world. The gospel’s restoring power gives ultimate meaning to every aspect of life – the way we live as family members, friends, students, employees, citizens, and consumers. Restoration Church desires to be a community living with a foretaste of the reality to come in God’s fully restored Kingdom.
Logo types to explore
We don't want something that's heavily Christianese (i.e., no big crosses, Bibles, Christian fish, rivers, etc.). People know that it’s a church and that’s enough to communicate the ‘Church/Christian’ part of our logo. We would also like the logo to be simple and scalable so that it looks good on a big banner and on the corner of a postcard. We like our current logo (http://www.RestorationChurchDC.com), but it has too much detail, so when you need to make the logo small, it just becomes blurry. We want a simple, scalable logo that can be applied to wide range of mediums (i.e. paper, business cards, t-shirts, projection screens, etc.). A well-done emblem type logo is attractive; that way the logo could be used with or without the words, “Restoration Church.” We also prefer “stock” fonts using either all caps or all lower-case. We do not want a custom designed font that is nearly impossible to duplicate for other related designs. Nor do we want a font that is expensive to buy. Sample Logos: http://www.restorationchurchdc.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/LogoExamples.pdf We are split on whether or not we like the 'R' & the 'C' intertwined (some like it and others are not sure), so we also would like to see some designs that do not necessarily incorporate that.
