ajg1977 got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Design a logo for Code Before Dawn

We're a small developer of iOS and Mac apps. We value polish and elegance, and focus on delivering a small number of high quality apps.
Logo types to explore
We plan to be able to use the logo on both light and dark materials so consideration of that, or two variations, will be needed. Code Before Dawn can be compressed into one word, or have each word vertically stacked on top of the other. For logos with a pictoral or abstract component, I'd like to also see entries that go beyond just variations of the letters CBD and attempt to incorporate images or even just abstract shapes (e.g. Nike, Adidas etc). Some ideas (but not limited to) - Sun, moon, Owl, Candle, Coffee (things that infer late night/early morning work). We're completely open to colors, but prefer subtle rather than loud, in your face combinations.
Every design category has flexible pricing for all budgets. Logo design starts at $299.
Full copyright with production-ready files for digital and/or print.
It all began with a design brief.
A quick, interactive guide helped them understand their design style and captured exactly what they needed in their logo design.
Designers across the globe delivered design magic.
ajg1977 collaborated with designers to refine their ideas
When design entries come in, you can rate them so designers know what you’re looking for in your logo design.
99designs has great collaboration tools so you can pinpoint and capture your ideas
And then… they selected a winner!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
