We are a vibrant church community in the heart of Alexandria, Virginia. We are a medium-size parish that values fellowship, as well as service. For more than 100 years, Emmanuel has welcomed individuals and families as long-term members or as visitors who may join us only for a short time. We have been a church since 1910. welcoming community to embrace and be a part of through service, volunteering, charitable endeavors. Our parishioners have been joining in our Sunday services and donating their time and talents for the good of the church and it’s people for decades. Emmanuel means “God is with us.” OUR MISSION Our mission is to worship and serve God so that all people may experience and grow in God’s love, acceptance and grace. We meet the needs of families and individuals, in our community and beyond, in the spirit of love, friendship, compassion, fellowship and fun. OUR 10-YEAR VISION Emmanuel Episcopal Church is a thriving, engaged and creative parish working to educate and meet the needs of children, youth and adults; live and demonstrate our Christian values; and create a more humane and just world through community service and outreach. CORE VALUES Faith:We believe in God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – as we confess our faith in the creeds and live the Gospel in our daily lives; Family - We care for, nurture and support individuals and families in every stage of life and circumstances; Honesty - We earn trust through open, truthful communication and we act with integrity by aligning our behavior with our words and values; Loyalty - We demonstrate allegiance to the people and ministry of Emmanuel; Community - We enrich lives for our congregation, neighborhood and beyond by building relationships through worship, fellowship and service. CREATIVE BRIEF Colors — Prefer a two color logo. Colors to consider reds, blues, golds and black. The Episcopalian crest and seal have reds and blues so having that color in our logo would allow us to visually have a connection to the Episcopal church. We would be open to considering the Pantone 279 and Pantone 280 as color combinations but are open to your suggestions. Image — We have been around and solid for a very long time and would like to convey that to our community by incorporating the date in the logo. We are a parish that is welcoming, open, inviting, charitable, family-like, connected through faith and service. A visual that conveys that essence is required. The ceiling is held up with strong beams in both the original chapel and larger church space. The style exemplifies gothic revival architecture. Fonts — We prefer a non-serif font. We want it to feel current, open, inviting and fresh.
