HYMOP is a research project in close collaboration with companies from different industrial sectors (manufacturing, chemical plants, renewable energy, ..). The acronym stands for "hypermodeling strategies for operational optimization".

HYMOP focuses on monitoring a fleet of industrial machines such as windmills, compressors, trucks, and rotating machines and on providing relevant feedback to the operators of these machines in order to optimize their work (operational optimization).
The proposed solution (hypermodeling) in the project is to decompose this challenge as follows:
- understand how a full fleet of machines works based on knowledge about how single machines work and work together
- understand how a single machine works based on knowledge about how the individual components of this machine work and work together
The project also focuses on analyzing data about the behavior of the machines. This data is obtained in real-time from sensors embedded in the machines.
