harilaos got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Create an inspiring logo for a startup that sells climate change data
Check out harilaos's Logo design contest…
We sell climate change data (future weather conditions, decades ahead) from climate models operated by research centers around the world to scientists and business so they can anticipate the consequences of climate change. The raw climate data is hard to find, download and use (large files, different standards, and formats). We centralise and make the data easy to use (standardized, quality checked, appropriate licence, etc.) by a larger community (scientist and businesses) so they can use it in their applications for the benefit of all (better prepared for climate change). That's why we are a "factory": we get raw data (as coal and iron) and transform it (as steel) for others to use for their own products. A factory indeed, but a digital/bigdata one because we handle huge data volumes (petabytes) and need cloud computing to transform the data. Hope that helps
Logo types to explore
I have attached a document with logos of my "providers". I want to look different from them. You can have a look at two minimalistic landing pages : http://www.theclimatedatafactory.com/ http://tcdf2.theclimatedatafactory.com/ => Do not look at the style sheets (predetermined by the site provider) => Please DON'T use CAPITALS for the name just small letters. (i;e. "the climate data factory" = YES, "THE CLIMATE DATA FACTORY"=NO) The use is mostly for Website and social presence => your design must resists "shrinking" to smaller versions
