aimeeallenback got their new logo design by running a design contest:

Travel & Hotel
Be Friendlier offers a special needs friendly designation to the hospitality industry - hotels, restaurants, airlines and other leisure locations/activities. The target audience is both to those institutions that want to do their social responsibility in recognizing the concerns of the special needs community and also to those in the community - directly affected who want to experience "normal" when traveling and enjoying leisure with family and friends.
Other color requirements
Orange/yellows are what appeal to me most but I'm open to blues - combination of both or multi colors. Trusting designer input based on description.
OVERALL: Looking for simplicity with most impact. LOGO LOOK AND SIZE: Ultimately the logo and typemark need to be able to work together as well as separately. Also, it's critical that the logo becomes one that fully represents the "Special Needs Friendly" designation so that just by seeing the logo you would know that location had the designation. (I view this similar to the eco-friendly designation logos already out there). Since the designation image can sometimes be small - it will need to be an image that is scalable to tiny and still understood. The mark needs to be one that emulates family friendliness, happiness, trust, and welcoming. IMAGE: I would like to see very out-of-the-box approaches, but I have also felt that a representation of "people" or "children" would be good as long as they are not very non-descript as possible (think generic smiley face - no ethnicity, no true gender, etc). And while I want to stay away from other cause related images - I could see how a puzzle image or ribbon image could work. TYPE: Again, open to suggestions however I am leaning towards ALL lower case. Seems more "playskool" and friendlier. DO NOT WANT: This designation is for all special needs in the developmental disability range (autism, angelman syndrome, downs syndrome, nager syndrome, etc) - not ADA/handicap (blind, deaf, wheelchair). The designation will certainly be welcoming to that demographic but ADA compliance has been mandated for years - this designation specifically addresses special needs of the developmental kind. Also, DO NOT incorporate Hotels, Airplanes or other travel related pictures. Though I've reference kids, "playskool", etc - this is still supposed to be a world recognized logo - typeface can't be in crayon. :-)
