Fiddleheadbrewing got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Craft Brewery Start-up Needs Your Help!!

Fiddlehead Brewing Company
I am starting up a new craft brewery in the northeast which will focus on serving a local market in an area of discerning beer drinkers. We chose the name Fiddlehead (as in the fern) because it has region flair and combines a mix between an eathy image but a word that is fun, funky, playful. A logo is needed to form brand/identify and will initially be used on signage, and later incorporated into bottles, tap handles, and other points of sale.
The target audience is craft beer drinkers, both male and female, between the ages of 21-45+.
We really want to see different ideas, and aren't entering into the process with a preconceived notion of what a Fiddlehead logo should look like. Black and white and color ideas are both of interest. I'm committed to following the contest closely and giving feedback through to narrow my focus and give designers more of a sense of what we are looking for.
Every design category has flexible pricing for all budgets. Logo design starts at $299.

And then… they selected a winner!
Both the work and communication were incredible. We couldn't be happier to have a new design and to have worked with someone who listened to our requests, was excited to work with us, and delivered a product we feel good about.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
