Our company emblem is the conch shell, so that must be the general idea for the logo. The shell is a symbol of imagination. It's like an ancient treasure that people can find on a beach. It suggests to people the vastness of the sea, and if you put your ear to it, you can hear sounds from mystical and faraway places. This hints at the experience we hope users can have while listening to our radio app.
The logo will primarily be used as an app icon, so the dimensions and level of detail should be appropriate for that context. The icon will probably have a light or white background.
We'd like for the logo to be colorful, reflecting the gold/sand/salmon colors of the most beautiful conch shells.
The biggest challenge is getting the shape right. Conch shells can often look spiky, weird, or "alien." The proportion of different parts of the shell need to be balanced. You can see in the attached pictures what we consider "unbalanced" shapes.
The shell should be stylized and can be a little abstract, but users have to immediately recognize that it is a conch shell.
It's important that the logo:
1) Is warm and friendly
2) Is streamlined; not have too many spiky or jagged corners
3) Must feel special, almost like a piece of jewelry or a talisman
4) Have a balanced shape
5) Must look good as a small icon on a smartphone screen
