The original logo was designed in 1980 and is extremely dated. However, there are some older employees that are resistant to change and even though we want to have a new, modern, classy-looking logo, we do not want to sway too far from the color scheme or design of the original logo. We just want it taken into the 21st century. Now, all of that said, please pay particular attention to the following comments......
In 1980, the company's name was Contech Engineering. Over the years, it changed to Contech Control Services. However, no one ever changed the logo.
We are trying to get away from the CE that is in the original logo. We want to be known as simply "Contech".
As such, it will save you some time if you do not incorporate the E that is in the middle of the original logo. I would say to concentrate more on either,
1) The C in Contech or,
2) An abstract design that tends to suggest the C that is in the word Contech.
Also, please do not be afraid to play with varied colors. While we have suggested blues, purples, grays, etc. The submissions that I have seen thus far that seem to be on the top of our list, have incorporated purple, gray, black, white and blue. While we do still want to see a professional looking blue (or possibly purple) somewhere, we are not opposed to considering multiple colors, based on some of the submissions that we have seen so far. We have been pleasantly surprised and have realized that we need to allow the Designers some flexibility on color choices and style. Nothing loud, mind you but multiple colors will be considered.
We do indeed want to move away from the old style of logo and even though it will still need to be recognized, we want it to stand out more, while still looking classy and professional on business cards, shirts, letterhead, vehicle placards, etc. I would definitely move away from the latest submissions that seems eerily close to the original logo. I hope this helps.
