kjimhof got their new book cover by running a design contest:
Crisp, colorful book cover to help readers break free from the emotional roller coaster of dieting.

The Lost Weight Workshop (LWW) is not a weight loss manual or diet but rather a book to help individuals break free from the emotional, spiritual and mental ties to the dieting cycle. The target audience will be primarily women but I hope men who struggle in this area will feel comfortable picking up the book - nothing overly feminine. The LWW helps readers discover the reasons to why "diets don't work". Diets promise a high failure rate, an unhealthy relationship with food, and an emotional roller coaster of guilt, condemnation and fear. The dieting promises are completely opposite of what God has for them. God promises them victory, peace with food and a vision filled life. The LWW guides the reader to discover what keeps them connected to the cycle of gaining and losing through teaching, journaling, author’s personal experience and biblical principles.
What's your vision?
I would prefer to not use stock photos in most cases. Idea - Breaking Free. The word weight in the title does not refer to physical weight but the spiritual, emotional and mental weight that keeps us (bound, tied, chained) to the dieting cycle. The idea here is that we are breaking free from the issues of the heart that keep us tied to food and dieting. Idea -A heart design. The heart of this book is based on the scripture in 1st Samuel that states that God does not look at the outward appearance but He looks at the heart. The LWW helps readers focus on the heart issues that keep us tied to food and dieting rather than solely centering on changing the physical. A creative or beautiful heart design (not the physical heart) could encompass the "heart" of this book. Idea - Rollercoaster –I use the phrase “the emotional roller coaster” several times within the book. i.e. "The emotional rollercoaster of guilt, shame, fear and failure" or "discovering what keeps us tied to the emotional rollercoaster of dieting." There is a lot of room for your own interpretation with the creativity of this design. The rollercoaster design could have clean lines or be fun, whimsical and colorful. The different parts to this design could include the rollercoaster, a heart or expression of emotion and a scale. Some ideas:The rollercoaster and scale are intertwined or the scale is the rollercoaster. When the meter goes up, we are frustrated, sad. guilty and when the meter goes down we are happy, excited etc. Or the heart and rollercoaster are interwoven together. Or the rollercoaster could be intertwined into the name of the book. Who is riding the rollercoaster? It could be the heart, scale, person or emotion . Idea – A clean, crisp book cover with the title and a pop of color or an object that will help readers identify the book, almost like a logo that sets the name apart. I tend to be drawn to books that have a light, crisp colored backgrounds – white, light turquoise blue, yellow, with a pop or several pops of color or a bright, colorful background. I do not mind a dark background but I do not like heavy images that completely fill the page. The above are just a few ideas, but I am excited to see what your creative expertise will bring to life. Book cover examples that I am drawn to: Colorful book cover: Judah Smith, Life is__________. Clean lines with color: New book cover for Rick Warren, Purpose Driven Life. Dark back ground with clean lines: Mark Batterson, The Circle Marker or his new book, If. Book that has similar content as mine: Made to Crave by Lysa TerKeurst White cover - simple design: Fight Like a Girl by Lisa Bevere or Good Things by Kevin Gerald
The book is 194 pages 6 X 9 CreateSpace gave me 0.002252 for white paper X 194 = 0.436888 for the width of the spine, if my math is correct. Pick the author photo of your choice.
