I am an author. Target Audience: Young adult and adults interested in historical biblical fiction adventure stories, with a slant toward myths and legends.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
Need book cover for print and e-reader editions. Want a front cover that will interest and appeal to both male and female readers, with attractive work (including nice lettering for book title) also on the spine, since the book will be sold in brick and mortar stores as well as online. Don't want anything too busy with a lot of small images on front cover, doesn't appeal to me and I don't think this would show up well on the online thumbnail pictures. Want title to show up well on cover, not as interested in having my name in large lettering. Would prefer my name at the bottom of front cover. I am leaning toward golden tones, maybe some beige and/or blue and gold combined tones. But I am open to something else. I seem to like the softer hues. Don't know what kind of font to use, other than nothing chunky. I wouldn't mind a little bit of simple scroll work on the cover. I will have two pictures of Lynn Austin's book covers to view in a pictures file that I am attaching, that have small scrolls on the top and bottom of the right side of front covers. Something like that would be nice. If scroll work is used, I would like to use the same shaped scroll on each front chapter page. So if using scrolling, please choose something that I will be able to copy from Word or some other program that I can easily add to the text portion of my manuscript. I will be submitting a file of a few pictures that I liked that are covers and others that could be incorporated into a cover, but I have no artistic talent, and am limited in my imagination of what a good cover could look like. So I am open to whatever any artist would like to create. Maybe something unexpected will be what I like best. Don't know what covers are currently attracting readers. Lynn Austin's covers are nice, but just a little too simple for me. I will also be submitting a short and long synopsis of my story with some additional information regarding some of the main features of my story that could be incorporate into the cover. There will be both hard and softcover versions, softcover will be 5.5 x 8.5. Whatever cover I choose, the same image will be used for my author's website, authors Facebook page and a large variety of marketing materials. I am publishing with WestBow Press. Artist name (image credit) will appear on the copyright page. Judah's Scepter and the Sacred Stone is the first book in a series. The books that follow, will definitely include the Stone. Please do not use any images of the Stone as shown in King Edwards coronation chair, as it has been most often photographed. PLEASE make sure authors name on cover is, D. A. BRITTAIN (not DIANE BRITTAIN). Thank you.
