We are a book publisher for Christian writers in South Carolina and in the southern United States.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
We need an illustrated book cover. The year is around 1940 in the southern United States. We see a 38-year-old, medium-build African American man, a farmer, outside the window of the Marion Bank & Trust Co. (we know this from the hand-lettering in the window) in Marion, Ala. He is wearing khaki pants, a light-colored long-sleeved shirt, and a short-brimmed straw hat with a dark band. In his hand is a piece of paper that might be a drawing of a plot of land. We may or may not see a farm wagon pulled by a mule. The man has paused for a moment as he studies the paper in his hand and contemplates his next step: walking into the bank and asking a white man for a loan to buy 80 acres of farmland in the segregated deep South.
The book cover trim size will be 6 x 9 inches. We need to leave room for the title: “Blessed Is the Man” and subtitle: “A Legacy of Faith and Family Values” and the author’s name.

The photos of the hat and the mule-drawn wagon are for inspiration only. They are not actual images from the author. The Marion Bank & Trust building is real, but the illustration for the book cover does not have to be historically accurate. Just providing this to give you a sense of the building.
